Tamon George On What to Do In DC
Travel guide With the Locals knows what to do in DC–or in any city, for that matter. They just ask a local! In 2015, we sponsored their ambassador, the foodtastic Katie Quinn, on her bike journey around Brooklyn, and it was a success! Such a success, in fact, that we’re sponsoring 12 more locals this year, as they create bike tours of cities all across North America! So where did we start? In our nation’s capital, of course, with local Tamon George.
Tamon has ridden all over DC–but one of his favorite spots is H Street, which he describes as “one of [DC’s] last remaining spaces for all races, cultures, and people.” If you’re wondering what to do in DC, he suggests H Street’s Maketto, a food and fashion marketplace, where you can shop, work, or just relax.
You can also head to Union Market (above) if you’re looking for a place “abundant with textures and feels.” It’s where Tamon takes his subjects to shoot, and where he feels most at home in the city. Check out the industrial feel of the place in the photos below.
And you don’t have to be a tourist to take Tamon’s recommendations. Locals can follow him as he finds a quiet place to focus, like Locale Workspace. Your work environment should be a reflection of your company values, Tamon says. “We want to feel like family to our clients, so our office feels like home.” Give his agency, Creative Theory, a gander.
